This year, Taipei streets are full of bull! Over a hun- dred creative moo-cow mockups, including the Peace and Joy Ox-the largest ox in the world, the Chinese Opera Cow, the Sexy Ox in her girdle, the Race Driving Ox, the Telecommunications Ox, and the Made in Taiwan Ox, are at large in Taipei City's Xinyi Business District, City Government Square, the MRT's Bannan Line, Ximending's Red House, and Huashan Culture Park. Public art is popping up everywhere in Taipei.
In the street, people line up to pull one of the beefy effigies around by the horns in the hope of "steering" fortune their way. When you occasionally stop and listen, you can almost hear the strains of jazz that the bovine buskers aren't playing. Tired from browsing the artwork, you mosey on over to the watering hole near Cool Cow and enjoy a leisurely latte. You see families herding around exhibits taking photos to commemorate this moo-ving occasion.
Could these artsy oxen be any more colorful, cute, and cuddly?! There's so much to see, you'll want to look at the exhibits until, well, until the cows come home. Taipei's ox art has brought smiles to faces and ushered in spring early this year-and that ain't no bull. The 10th CowParade Taipei will continue until March 31
